Dark Subtle Teas

Tea for me is liquid sophistication…nuanced, layered and complex. At home I drink many different kinds — I’ve always loved it.

The same is true in my work: I’m always hunting down new tea absolutes. I think tea notes in fragrance are familiar but not immediately recognizable, so they speak to us on a subconscious level.

DARK SUBTLE TEAS showcases tea as the main event. Rather than a playful, citrusy green tea — we’ve all smelled that before — this one has intrigue and mystery to it. 

The formula balances unusual extracts of black tea, rooibos tea, and maté. Working with them can be challenging for a perfumer: they need to be finessed. Bergamot, orange, and warm benzoin resin let us enter the darker depths smoothly.

This is a meditative, almost spiritual perfume for me. You’ll wear it as an intimate ritual…a private pleasure and a personal ceremony.
